Age Verification Policy
DripFlicks is for adults only. This Policy explains how we verify age today, the jurisdictions in which more stringent verification is statutorily required, and our roadmap for implementing those stronger methods.
1. The basic rule
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is higher). It is your responsibility to ensure that access to adult sexual content is lawful for you in your location.
2. Current method — affirmation
On first visit, DripFlicks displays a full-screen age-gate that you must affirmatively dismiss before content is shown. A cookie ("age_ok") records the affirmation for 12 months. This is sufficient in jurisdictions that permit affirmation-based age confirmation; it is not sufficient in jurisdictions that statutorily require third-party identity-based verification.
3. Jurisdictions requiring statutory ID-based age verification (United States)
The following U.S. states have enacted statutes requiring commercial websites with more than one-third sexually-explicit material to perform "reasonable age verification" by reference to a digitised government-issued ID or commercially-available transactional data: Louisiana (Act 440, 2022), Utah (SB 287, 2023), Mississippi (HB 1126, 2023), Virginia (SB 1515, 2023), Texas (HB 1181, 2023), Arkansas (SB 66, 2023), Montana (SB 544, 2023), North Carolina (HB 8, 2023), Indiana (SB 17, 2024), Tennessee (HB 1614, 2024), Florida (HB 3, 2024), Kentucky (HB 278, 2024), Idaho (HB 498, 2024), Alabama (HB 164, 2024), Kansas (SB 394, 2024), Nebraska (LB 1092, 2024), South Carolina (HB 3424, 2024). Several other states have pending legislation. Counsel should refresh this list quarterly as the landscape shifts rapidly.
4. Jurisdictions requiring statutory ID-based age verification (other)
United Kingdom: the Online Safety Act 2023 requires "highly effective age assurance" for in-scope services from July 2025 (Ofcom enforcement). European Union: France (loi SREN, art. 22), Germany (Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag — KJM-approved methods), and Spain are leading on ID-based verification; the EU is developing an EU Digital Identity Wallet with age-attestation features. Australia: consultation under way; eSafety Commissioner pilots. Canada: Bill S-210 pending. The list is non-exhaustive and changes rapidly.
5. Current compliance posture
DripFlicks relies on the affirmation gate. We have not yet deployed ID-based verification in any jurisdiction. In jurisdictions where ID-based verification is statutorily required and we have not yet deployed it, we recommend you do not access the Service from those locations. As implementation progresses, this Policy will be updated to reflect deployment status by jurisdiction.
6. Planned verification methods
When ID-based verification is deployed, we will use a certified third-party verification vendor. Identity documents will not be stored on DripFlicks's servers; the vendor will return a single pass/fail token bound to a session cookie, with no personally identifiable information retained by DripFlicks. Vendor selection criteria include zero-knowledge / privacy-preserving design (e.g. attribute-based credentials, double-blind verification).
7. Data handling for future verification
When implemented: (a) we will never receive a copy of your government ID; (b) we will receive only a pass/fail token plus a per-session identifier; (c) we will not link verification events to your viewing history; (d) records of verification will be retained only as required by applicable law (typically 2-7 years).
8. Misrepresentation
Affirming you are 18+ when you are not is a violation of these policies and, depending on your jurisdiction, may be a criminal offence. We cooperate with law-enforcement investigations.
9. Parental controls
Parents and guardians can restrict access to adult content using parental-control tools at the device or network level. We support the Restricted To Adults (RTA) labelling system — every page is marked with the standard RTA meta tag so RTA-aware filters can block the Service entirely.
10. Updates
This Policy is reviewed at least quarterly given the pace of statutory change.
